White Spots on Your Skin in Summer? Here’s What They Could Mean and How to Treat Them

Have you ever noticed small white or lighter patches appearing on your skin during the summer?

They can look alarming, especially when they suddenly become much more visible after spending time in the sun. But in many cases, these spots are linked to a common and treatable skin condition called pityriasis versicolor, also known as tinea versicolor.

The condition is particularly noticeable during warm months because the affected areas don’t tan in the same way as the surrounding skin.

But white patches can have several possible causes, so it’s important not to assume that every light-colored spot is a fungal infection.
