2. Oats May Help With Blood Sugar Management
Oats contain carbohydrates, but they also provide fiber, including beta-glucan.
Because soluble fiber slows digestion, eating oats as part of a balanced meal may produce a different blood-sugar response than consuming highly refined carbohydrates with little fiber.
That doesn’t mean oatmeal will automatically “lower your blood sugar.” Portion size, preparation, toppings, medications, activity levels, and the rest of your diet all matter.
If you have diabetes, be particularly careful with sweetened instant oatmeal, syrups, sugar, and other high-sugar toppings.
