The layer of fat beneath the skin naturally provides some coverage over veins.
When someone loses body fat, veins may become easier to see, particularly on the hands, forearms, and other areas where the skin is relatively thin.
This can happen gradually after weight loss or naturally in people with a lean body composition.
3. Aging Can Make Veins More Noticeable
Another common explanation is simply getting older.
As we age, the skin tends to become thinner and loses some of its elasticity and collagen. The layer of fat beneath the skin can also decrease.
As a result, veins that were always there may become much easier to see.
This doesn’t necessarily indicate a circulation problem.
