Tell each contractor:
“I need this ceiling re-sheeted, finished and ready for paint. Please include materials, labor, taping, mudding, sanding, cleanup and disposal in the quote.”
Then compare the estimates.
If three contractors come back around $1,300–$1,700, the $1,500 quote is probably within the normal range for your area.
If everyone else is around $700–$900, then you have a good reason to question the original quote.
Bottom Line
Looking at the photo, $1,500 isn’t automatically an outrageous price.
