Their response wasn’t exactly what I expected.
They acted as though I was making a big deal out of nothing.
To them, it seemed like a harmless favor.
To me, it was a boundary.
And once someone gets comfortable crossing a boundary, it can become surprisingly difficult to put things right again.
Then It Got Worse
The situation eventually went beyond occasional parking.
There were times when I couldn’t use my own driveway because someone else had decided to leave a vehicle there.
I had to wait, track people down, and rearrange my plans simply because my neighbors had decided that my property was convenient for them.
That’s when I realized that asking nicely wasn’t enough.
I needed to make the boundary unmistakably clear.
The Solution Was Simple
Instead of arguing every time someone parked there, I took steps to make it obvious that the driveway was private.
I added clear signage and made sure there was no confusion about who the space belonged to.
The message was simple:
Private property. Do not park here without permission.
There was no shouting.
No dramatic confrontation.
No revenge.
Just a clear boundary.
Suddenly, the Problem Disappeared
The difference was almost immediate.
Once there was a visible reminder that the driveway wasn’t public parking, the casual visits stopped.
