You can use your phone’s flashlight to see into dark areas without reaching underneath.
Usually, you’ll find nothing more exciting than dust or a forgotten item.
But if you see something genuinely concerning, don’t touch it. Step away and contact hotel staff.
Check Your Windows and Balcony
If your room has a window or balcony, make sure everything appears secure.
Check that the window closes properly and that balcony doors latch as expected.
If you’re traveling with children, be particularly careful around windows, balconies, and furniture positioned near them.
Never assume a window or balcony is safe simply because it looks secure.
Don’t Unpack Until You’re Comfortable
There’s a simple reason for checking first.
Once your clothes are spread across drawers, closets, and chairs, changing rooms becomes much more annoying.
Instead, follow a simple routine:
Enter → inspect → report problems → unpack.
It takes only a few minutes.
What If You Find a Problem?
Don’t feel uncomfortable reporting it.
If you notice a significant cleanliness issue, broken lock, water leak, suspected pests, or another serious problem, take a photo if appropriate and contact reception.
You can politely explain the issue and ask whether it can be corrected or whether another room is available.
